Overview:
This rotation provides an overview of clinical pathology and core laboratory operations, covering up to 8 subspecialties of clinical pathology, including automated hematology, clinical chemistry, coagulation, immunology, informatics, laboratory management, molecular diagnostics, and toxicology. Medical student rotators will be paired with residents completing the rotation, and shadow them in completing their activities and assignments. Certain activities and conferences take place each week (see table below), and other subspecialties are covered during dedicated emphasis weeks focusing on molecular diagnostics, chemistry/toxicology, or automated hematology/laboratory management/informatics.
